We can work with you on any boat, regardless of the listing broker, to see that your interests as a purchaser are well represented. The purchase of a boat is a significant financial transaction and it makes sense to leverage the wealth of knowledge and peace of mind that an experienced yacht broker can provide as the sales process proceeds. U.S. buyers are more than welcome. Why not take advantage of the strong U.S. dollar for significant savings on the purchase of a good, clean, Canadian freshwater boat. Prices shown on this site are in Canadian dollars, which convert to US dollars at roughly 25% discount based on current exchange rates (i.e. $100,000 CAD = $75,000 USD). Westwind can assist with arrangements for transport to US destinations by land or by water, and with preparation of the required customs documentation. Considering a U.S. purchase? Although the Canadian dollar currently trades at a discount, cross-border listings may be attractive under certain market conditions. There are many good, freshwater vessels in the US Great Lakes region, and elsewhere on the continent. Westwind will work on your behalf with US brokers to complete the purchase, and most importantly, help you through the process of having the boat properly landed and licensed or registered in Canada. We'll contact the local broker to arrange a viewing, and we will work with you through the assessment, offer, closing and transport phases, should you decide to proceed. Looking to sell? Westwind is always looking to add clean, well-maintained boats to our brokerage listings. Our objective is to provide the best service for you, and the best exposure for your boat. We do not carry new boat inventory. As a result, you can be assured our primary interest is in the sale of your boat, not on moving expensive new-boat inventory. We focus on the local market, which means we can effectively show our listed boats on very short notice and deliver a level of service that buyers and sellers really appreciate. Our inventory list is often very short, but less inventory means we can focus much more attention and advertising on your boat, and that means shorter time on the market and a better sell price for you. . How does it work for sellers? We start with an inspection of your boat to assess overall condition, and we provide advice on pre-listing steps that you can take to ensure the best possible presentation. We'll research listings for same or similar models to establish a listing price that will position your boat competitively within the current market. If you decide to proceed with a sales listing, interior and exterior photos are taken in preparation for advertising to achieve maximum market exposure. We actively target our advertising to buyers in key geographic areas of the U.S. and Canada who are showing interest in your specific make and model of boat. We also provide objective feedback on buyer interest levels as the sales campaign proceeds. Once advertising is in place, Westwind manages the sales process on your behalf from start to finish, including coordination of surveys, mechanical inspections and land or water transport, if required by the buyer. Potential purchasers are pre-qualified, and your boat is shown with the utmost care, consideration and respect, and with the broker present at all times. All purchase offers are presented in writing with suitable deposit in place. No broker can guarantee a sale, but Westwind promises every effort will be made to attract serious, qualified buyers who won't waste your valuable time. With any sale, success depends primarily upon condition and price point.
